Certification MarksCertification Marks, which are offered by independent certification bodies such as ASTA or BASEC, are used by manufacturers to improve market acceptability and to give consumers increased confidence in the safety of the product. These marks are used illegally by counterfeiters to fool the user that the product is safe. The CE Marking is not a safety mark but a legal requirement for most electrical products. It can only be legally applied by the original manufacturer. Again, it is used fraudulently by counterfeiters.
